The ABCD Native American Head Start Program is based on the premise that all children share certain needs and that children of low-income families can benefit from a comprehensive developmental program to meet those needs. In particular, the needs of the Native American community have traditionally been under-served.
While our focus is to support Native children and their families in maintaining their identity, culture, language and their traditions, the Native American Community Head Start will also promote, support and respect the rights of all children to feel good about their culture, language, and traditions. The curriculum is designed with parent input to foster the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of all children. The Head Start experience will insure that all families receive the information, resources, support and encouragement needed to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride not only in their children’s progress but also in themselves and in their community.
Our purpose is to provide an experience that makes a positive difference in families long after they leave the ABCD Native American Head Start program.
